Understand the setting
CSFS describes the wildland-urban interface as places where development meets or mixes with wildland vegetation. It is a way to describe the setting around communities. The term alone does not tell you which contractor to hire, what your property requires or whether every part of your parcel should be treated.
Describe your own surroundings
When preparing for a review, note the buildings, neighboring open land, maintained landscape and areas you cannot access. Use current photos and identify ownership boundaries. A house beside open land and a house within a wooded parcel may raise different questions, even when both are described as being in the WUI.
Ask for defined work
Separate building improvements, vegetation management and planned pretreatment. Bring any local assessment to the relevant contractors and ask which recommendations their proposals address. WTG’s role is a property-specific review of suitable vegetation and ground fuels. An inquiry does not establish blanket service availability or replace local emergency arrangements.
