What a Fire Retardant Demonstration Can and Cannot Show

Evaluate a demonstration by its conditions and documentation before applying it to your property decision.

By Wildfire Treatment Group.

Ask what was demonstrated

Identify the product, test material, setup and observation being shown. Was it a manufacturer demonstration, a laboratory report or a documented field event? Save the original source and date. A short edited video may not provide the context needed to understand what happened.

Separate the observation from the promise

Ask the presenter which claim the demonstration supports and what it leaves unanswered. Your vegetation, application conditions and later exposure may differ from the demonstration. Do not turn an observed result into a guaranteed survival claim or assume that appearance alone establishes a lasting level of protection.

Return to the proposed work

For WTG, the purchasing decision should include site suitability, product instructions, treatment boundaries and follow-up considerations. Ask how supporting evidence relates to that scope. A demonstration can prompt useful questions, but the final proposal should describe actual work rather than promise to reproduce a dramatic video on every property.
