Wildfire Planning for Church and Worship-Campus Grounds

Account for events, volunteers and shared outdoor spaces in a vegetation-treatment inquiry.

By Wildfire Treatment Group.

Identify every use of the grounds

A worship property may also host childcare, food distribution, community meetings or outdoor services. Put those uses on the planning calendar and identify the person responsible for each. Mark the specific vegetation areas under consideration instead of assuming the whole campus is an application area.

Coordinate volunteers and contractors

Explain who maintains landscaping and who can authorize changes. Volunteer cleanup and contracted application need separate responsibilities, especially when work occurs on different days. Agree on how the property representative confirms preparation and tells the provider about changes. Keep sensitive access information out of public announcements.

Prepare a clear handoff

Ask WTG to define suitability, exclusions and site-specific access instructions before notices are issued. A treatment proposal does not include emergency-event management or structural improvements unless separately arranged with the appropriate provider. Store the completion record where future facilities volunteers can find it, with a named contact for follow-up questions.
