Wildfire Vegetation Planning for School Grounds

Coordinate a grounds review around school access, facilities responsibilities and occupied areas.

By Wildfire Treatment Group.

Give the facilities team a defined question

Start with the specific vegetation areas the school wants reviewed. Identify buildings, play areas, outdoor classrooms and maintenance entrances on a current site plan. Include the facilities lead and the person authorized to approve property work. A general request to protect the campus is too broad to establish an application scope.

Plan around occupancy

Describe normal arrivals, dismissals, after-school activities and any summer use. Ask the provider how work boundaries and access instructions would be communicated under the applicable product directions and site conditions. Do not assume a weekend means the property is empty or invent a standard time for reopening an area.

Keep emergency planning separate

WTG can review suitable vegetation pretreatment; it does not replace the school’s emergency plan or certify buildings. Any proposal should specify exclusions, preparation and responsibility for notices. Keep the approved map and completed-work record with facilities documents so a later staff member can identify the actual areas included.
