Wildfire Grounds Planning for Museums and Cultural Sites

Coordinate vegetation review with collection access, visitor operations and site-specific restrictions.

By Wildfire Treatment Group.

Bring the right people into the review

Ask facilities and collections staff to identify relevant restrictions before a contractor visit. Mark outdoor exhibits, historic features, visitor paths and vegetation areas. Describe any surfaces or objects that must remain outside application. Do not assume a general landscape treatment is appropriate near every cultural asset.

Use the operating calendar

List public hours, special events, deliveries and conservation projects that affect access. Ask how the provider would separate the proposed work from visitors and other contractors under the approved instructions. If the site has unusual handling or approval procedures, provide them before seeking a firm schedule.

Keep the service boundary clear

WTG evaluates suitable vegetation and ground fuels; it does not perform conservation treatment or certify collection protection. The proposal should identify approved areas and exclusions precisely. Retain the application record with the facilities plan, and tell future managers when planting, paths or exhibit arrangements change the reviewed landscape.
