Finding Your Project in a Community Wildfire Plan

Connect a specific property proposal to the relevant part of a community plan without assuming approval or funding.

Locate the actual project

CSFS explains that community plans identify and prioritize risk-reduction projects. Find the plan covering your area, then look for the named project or mapped location relevant to your concern. Record the plan date and page number. A broad county priority may still need a much more specific project design.

Ask who is responsible

Contact the plan’s relevant local lead to understand the status of the work and what remains to be decided. Ask whether the project boundary and priorities have changed. A reference in the plan should not be interpreted as permission to enter land, a grant award or a commitment to a particular contractor.

Bring context to the quote

Share the relevant excerpt with WTG if planned vegetation pretreatment is being considered. Identify the landowner, decision maker and scope under discussion. The proposal should distinguish the work WTG would perform from the larger community project. Keep any separate approval or funding questions with the organization responsible for them.
