Changing a Treatment Scope After Receiving a Quote

Document added areas, changed conditions and revised responsibilities before the affected work proceeds.

By Wildfire Treatment Group.

Describe the change precisely

Name the map area and explain whether you want to add, remove or alter work. Include current photographs when the landscape has changed. A message such as “do the rest too” leaves the provider guessing about boundaries and may include areas that have not been reviewed.

Ask for the consequences

Request clarification of suitability, price, preparation and scheduling before approving the change. If another contractor caused the change, share the relevant completion information. Do not assume that a crew can expand its work immediately or that a prior unit rate automatically applies to a different area.

Keep the revision identifiable

Use a dated proposal or other agreed written confirmation that makes the current scope clear. WTG’s field record should distinguish the approved revision from the original plan. Keep both versions so future reviewers can understand why the work differs. The goal is a traceable decision, not a collection of conflicting instructions.
