Off-Grid Properties: Planning a Wildfire Treatment Visit

Explain utilities, communications and access before arranging a remote-property review.

By Wildfire Treatment Group.

Describe the property’s operating conditions

Tell WTG that the site is off-grid and identify the practical limitations relevant to a visit. Explain communication coverage, access and any utilities the provider might otherwise assume are available. Ask what resources the proposed work requires rather than assuming either the property or the crew supplies everything.

Agree on a communication plan

Identify a reachable owner or representative and a meeting arrangement that does not depend on an unreliable signal. Share access credentials only through an appropriate private channel. Explain how changes will be communicated before travel and what to do if the site is inaccessible on arrival.

Confirm a site-specific scope

Remote access does not establish that application is suitable or available. Ask WTG to review the vegetation, exclusions and logistics before committing to a date. Keep the final arrangement with the approved map. Planned pretreatment is separate from emergency response, and an off-grid service visit does not create a standing rescue or monitoring commitment.
