Minimum Project Size: What to Ask a Wildfire Treatment Provider

Discuss minimums without assuming parcel acreage determines whether a project can be quoted.

By Wildfire Treatment Group.

Start with the actual inquiry

A minimum project requirement may concern mobilization or the scope of work, not simply the size of your parcel. Send WTG the location and the vegetation areas you want considered. Ask whether the project can be reviewed and what minimum, if any, would apply to the proposed service.

Avoid expanding work just to hit a number

Do not add unsuitable or unwanted areas merely to reach an assumed threshold. The treatment footprint should follow the site review and your approved priorities. Ask whether a smaller scope, a different schedule or coordinated nearby work is worth discussing, while recognizing that none guarantees acceptance or a lower price.

Get the terms in the proposal

If a minimum applies, ask how it affects the total and what work is actually included. Keep excluded areas visible on the map. A clear quote should not leave you believing that every part of a larger parcel is covered because a minimum charge was met.
