Wildfire Grounds Planning for Summer Camps

Coordinate cabins, activity areas and seasonal operations when requesting a vegetation review.

By Wildfire Treatment Group.

Map the active camp

Label cabins, staff housing, dining buildings, activity areas and maintenance routes. Identify vegetation you want considered and areas with particular use restrictions. Tell the reviewer whether the map reflects camp in session or its closed-season arrangement, since stored equipment and access may differ.

Plan before the turnover window

Discuss application suitability and logistics before scheduling between groups. Ask what preparation and access instructions apply to the approved project. Do not assume a short gap between sessions is enough without review. Name the staff member who can communicate changes and confirm which areas are ready.

Keep planning and response separate

WTG provides planned vegetation pretreatment, not an emergency response contract or certification of camp safety. Maintain the camp’s separate emergency arrangements with the responsible authorities. Keep the agreed scope and completion record in the year-round facilities file so seasonal staff changes do not erase knowledge of the work.
