Build an accurate starting picture
A new home comes with unfamiliar maintenance routines and records that may be incomplete. Begin by learning what work has already been performed on the building and grounds. Ask for available assessments, tree-care information and any previous treatment documents. A description in a listing or a general statement from a previous owner is a starting lead, not a complete account of current conditions.
Look at the home and grounds together
Colorado State Forest Service describes preparedness in terms of both the building and the fuels around it. An existing landscaped yard does not answer every question about either. Local guidance or a qualified assessment can help identify concerns that need building improvements or vegetation management. WTG’s treatment review addresses its own proposed application scope within that broader picture.
Learn how the grounds are maintained
Find out who manages irrigation, trees and common areas. Identify any planting or construction you intend to change after moving in. It may be more useful to review the intended landscape than to plan treatment around vegetation that will soon be removed. For a shared property, learn which areas you control and which require an association or another owner’s involvement.
Review prior treatment information carefully
If an application was previously performed, seek the date, product and area description. Do not assume a previous treatment included the whole parcel or remains unchanged today. Share the record and any known later work with WTG. The purpose is to understand the history and current questions, not to use an old receipt as a guarantee of present performance.
Choose your next conversation
You can begin a WTG inquiry with the address, your immediate priorities and optional current photos. Note what is known and what remains uncertain. We can discuss suitable areas, practical access and whether pretreatment fits the proposed project. You do not need to resolve every long-term improvement at once to take a useful first step.
