Fire-Retardant Coatings and Ground Application: Different Scope Questions

Identify the intended surface before comparing a coating product with a vegetation-treatment service.

By Wildfire Treatment Group.

Start with the intended use

A search for fire-retardant coatings may concern wood, a building surface or another material. WTG’s service concerns planned application to suitable vegetation and ground fuels. Name the intended surface when contacting a provider so you are discussing the correct product and service from the outset.

Request use-specific documentation

For any coating proposal, ask the manufacturer or qualified installer for the actual product instructions and supporting documentation for the intended surface. Do not transfer a qualification or claim from a different formulation or application. Keep building-code and construction questions with the relevant professionals.

Keep separate work separate

A WTG vegetation quote does not automatically include coating siding, roofing, decks or furniture. If your plan includes both building work and landscape pretreatment, identify each scope and its provider. Coordinate scheduling and exclusions, then retain distinct completion records so later owners understand which surfaces and areas were actually addressed.
